The St. Johns River is one of the most significant and well-known rivers in Florida, flowing northward for approximately 310 miles through the eastern part of the state. The St. Johns River originates in the marshes of Indian River County, near Vero Beach, and flows northward through 12 counties before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville.
