Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is the maritime museum in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Whitefish Point. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society was founded in 1978 by a group of divers, teachers, and educators to commence exploration of historic shipwrecks in eastern Lake Superior, near Whitefish Point in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula.

Michigan is a state located in the Great Lakes and Midwestern regions of the United States. It is bordered by four of the five Great Lakes: Superior, Michigan, Huron, and Erie. It is the only U.S. state that consists of two peninsulas, the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula, which are connected by the Mackinac Bridge. It had a population of 10,077,331 in 2020.
