Benton (formerly Benton Station) is a census-designated place in Mono County, California. It includes the unincorporated communities of Benton and Benton Hot Springs and is 32 miles (51 km) north of the community of Bishop. Its population was 279 at the 2020 census. Benton is rich in history due to a once-booming mining industry; and is currently famous for its natural hot springs. | |
The community of Benton is located in the southwest section of Mono County along Highway 6. Benton borders the Nevada state line and provides access to Tonopah via Highway 6 to the east, Bishop to the south, and Lee Vining/ Mono Lake via the spectacular Highway 120 to the northwest. The surrounding area also provides plenty of opportunity for off-road adventures and hiking in the White Mountain Range. |
