There are three bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico, all offering a magical experience for visitors. These bays are home to microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates that emit light when agitated by movement in the water. The result is a stunning display of blue light that creates an otherworldly atmosphere.
Mosquito Bay, Vieques: This is the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world, according to the Guinness World Records. It boasts a concentration of up to 2.1 million dinoflagellates per gallon of water!

Laguna Grande, Fajardo: This bay is located just an hour from San Juan, making it the most accessible of the three. It's located within a natural reserve with mangrove forests, beaches, and coral reefs.

La Parguera, Lajas: This is the only bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico where swimming is allowed. Visitors can take a kayak tour and swim among the glowing plankton.
