Denton County, Texas, established in 1846, is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and has a rich history dating back to early Native American inhabitants and settlers from the Peters Colony. The county seat is Denton, known for its historical courthouse and vibrant community activities. As of the 2020 census, its population was 906,422.

Pilot Knoll Park is a waterfront park on Lake Lewisville. It is located on the western side of the lake in the town of Highland Village. There are two sides to the park. One side is the large day use area with the boat ramp. The other side is for camping and RV-ing.
