Floriston is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Nevada County, California. It is situated at an elevation of 5,400 ft (1,600 m) above sea level. Floriston is located on the Truckee River, 10 miles (16.1 km) east-northeast of Truckee. Formerly an important railroad stop and mill town. The population was 80 at the 2020 census. | |
Nothing remains of the ice and paper industries, and Interstate 80 covers the site of the mill. Remnants of a dam built 1899 just below town are not related to its history, and instead provided water for the powerhouse at Farad until it was washed out in 1997. |
Tahoe Pyramid Trail Place » Outdoors The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail is based on a vision for a trail that would follow the entire length of the Truckee River, from its source at forested Lake Tahoe (6225’/1897m) to the desert terminus of Pyramid Lake (3796’/1157m). The trail can be enjoyed by hikers, runners, walkers, or cyclists. 101 views 💖 1Mystic Rd, Floriston, CA 96111 |
