| A Gregg County native, Jones Collected from childhood and later became an archeologist for the State of Florida, where he won international acclaim for locating several Spanish missions and the de Soto campsite in Tallahassee. Also a Gregg County native, Brown served in Germany, Vietnam, worked as a TAC officer in Virginia and was an instructor at the U.S. Army's Command and General Staff School course in Longview, Texas.
