The Vung Tau Lighthouse (Hai Dang Vung Tau) is a historic lighthouse located in Vung Tau, a coastal city in southern Vietnam's Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The lighthouse was built in 1862 by the French colonial government and was one of the first modern lighthouses in Indochina. | |
The lighthouse stands at aheight of 18 meters (59 feet) and is located on top of the Small Mountain in Vung Tau. It was originally powered by akerosene lamp, but was later upgraded to use electricity. The light emitted from the lighthouse can be seen from adistance of up to 40 kilometers (25 miles) away. Today, the Vung Tau Lighthouse is still in operation and is an important landmark of the city. Visitors can climb up to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views of Vung Tau and its surroundings. The lighthouse is also a popular spot for photography, especially during sunset when the views are particularly stunning. |
