Burundi is a landlocked country located in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. It is bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Lake Tanganyika to the west. The capital and largest city of Burundi is Bujumbura. Its population was 13,162,952 in 2023.

Ruvubu National Park is the largest national park in Burundi covering 508 square kilometres (196 sq mi).
