Lake Almanor is a large reservoir located in Plumas County, in the northeastern part of California, United States. The lake covers an area of about 28 square miles (72 square kilometers) and has a maximum depth of about 90 feet (27 meters).
Lake Almanor was formed in 1914 after the construction of the Canyon Dam on the North Fork of the Feather River. The lake is fed by several tributaries, including the Hamilton Branch, and is used for a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, boating, swimming, and camping.

The lake is surrounded by the Lassen National Forest and offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains, including Lassen Peak, the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and black bears.

The town of Chester is located on the north shore of the lake and serves as the main gateway to the area. Visitors can enjoy a range of amenities in Chester, including lodging, restaurants, and shopping, as well as access to the lake and nearby hiking trails.
