Valle Vista Campground is a campground located in the city of Maricopa, California. It is a small, rustic campground situated in the Los Padres National Forest, about 10 miles from the town of Maricopa. The campground is situated at an elevation of 4,000 feet, which makes it a great spot to escape the heat of the valley during the summer months.

Carrizo Plain National Monument offers visitors a rare chance to be alone with nature. The plain is home to diverse communities of wildlife and plant species including several listed as threatened or endangered and is an area culturally important to Native Americans.

The Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge is located in the foothills of the southwestern San Joaquin Valley in Kern County, California. The refuge is one of four units of the Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex for California condors.
