Ứng Hòa is a southern district (huyện) of Hanoi in the Red River Delta region of Vietnam. It is rich in history, culture, and traditional crafts. Ứng Hòa played an important role in Vietnam’s resistance wars against colonial and imperial forces. Many revolutionary movements originated here, making it a site of national pride. Its population was 193,731 in 2005.
The district has historical sites like Chùa Viên Đình and Đình Chùa Thái Bình, which showcase the region’s Buddhist and Confucian heritage.

Ứng Hòa is home to several well-known traditional craft villages, including:
- Vác Village (Làng Vác) – Famous for making bamboo and wooden birdcages, a craft passed down for generations.
- Trầm Hương Village – Specializes in producing high-quality agarwood (trầm hương), used for incense and spiritual purposes.

Unlike urban Hanoi, Ứng Hòa remains peaceful and rural, with vast rice fields, rivers, and traditional Vietnamese villages. The Day River flows through the district, adding to its scenic landscape and supporting local farming communities.
