| Newell, California, is a small census-designated place in Modoc County, located in the northeastern part of the state. Newell is a quiet, rural community with an agricultural focus. It is located 50 miles (80 km) west-northwest of Alturas, at an elevation of 4,042 feet (1,232 m). Its population is 301 as of the 2020 census, down from 449 from the 2010 census. | |
