It is situated in the western part of New York State, near the Canadian border. It is located on the southern bank of the Niagara River, directly across from the Canadian city of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Tthe city had a total population of 48,671 in 2020.

The Cave of the Winds is a popular attraction located at Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls, New York. It offers a unique and up-close experience of the American Falls, one of the major waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls. The cave is some 130 feet high, 100 feet wide and 30 feet in depth. It was discovered in 1834, and originally dubbed Aeolus' Cave, after the Greek god of winds.
