It is situated on five acres of natural beauty , surrounded by giant oak trees , some of which are over 75 year old . It is a pastoral retreat within the city , tranquil and peaceful , ideal for the practice of meditation and the study of the Buddha's teachings . The Temple's objectives include offering the teachings of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism , both theory and practice , for the Buddhist community in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas . The temple has been providing a place to practice and preserve Buddhism . This tradition is being continued today at the temple by many Vietnamese and non -Vietnamese Buddhists . It offers at no cost the use of its premises and the teachings of its instructors . All this is possible thanks to the generous contributions of its benefactors , friends and visitors . |
