Thanh Hoa is a province in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. This is a relatively large province, which ranks as fifth in areaand as third in population among 63 central administrative subdivisions. Its capital and largest city is Thanh Ha³a City. The province is widely called Xu Thanh (The Land of Thanh). It had an area of 11,133.4 km2 and a population of approximate 3.6 million.

Thanh nha  Ho (Citadel of the Ho Dynasty) was built in Vinh Loc, Thanh Hoa. It served as the western capital of the Ho dynasty (1398-1407). The citadel was built by Ho Qua½ Ly in 1397, also known as Tay Do to distinguish it from Dong Do (Thang Long - Ha  Noi). After building the citadel, Ho Quy Ly moved the capital from Thang Long to Tay Do. However, the Ho Dynasty only existed for 7 years (from 1400).
