Belmont is a city in San Mateo County in the U.S. state of California. Known for its wooded hills, views of the San Francisco Bay and stretches of open space, Belmont is a quiet residential community in the midst of the culturally and technologically rich Bay Area. The city was incorporated in 1926. Its population was 28,335 at the 2020 census.

San Juan Canyon Open Space has 35 acres of new open space with some benches and hiking/biking trails. It is also connected to Sugarloaf Open Space and Trails.

Waterdog Lake and Open Space is a nature reserve with a hilly green park, a small lake and hiking trails of varying lengths, some of them steep.

Crystal Springs Cross Country offers a one mile loop or the three mile course on 4ft-5ft wide trails. It also overlooks Crystal Springs Reservoir, the bay and the San Francisco skyline.
