Praia is the capital and largest city of Cabo Verde (Cape Verde). It is situated on the southern coast of Santiago, the largest island in the archipelago, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The city is characterized by a mix of urban and coastal landscapes. Its population was around 159,050 in 2017.
