Fifty miles north of Eureka, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park protects sandy beaches and open meadows grazed by magnificent herds of Roosevelt elk. Ferns cascade down canyon walls. Lush stands of the world's tallest living tree species, the coast redwood, stand in primeval majesty.
Redwood Creek Beach is located at the mouth of Redwood Creek about two miles south of the town of Orick in northern Humboldt County. This day-use picnic area is part of Redwood National Park and has a large parking area, clean facilities, and access to a sandy driftwood-covered beach. The National Park’s Thomas H. Kuchel Visitor Center is adjacent to the picnic area.

Redwood National and State Parks, located in northern California along the coast, are a collection of protected areas that preserve and showcase the iconic coastal redwood trees.
Lady Bird Johnson Grove rests near the top of a ridge in Redwood National Park, more than 1,000 feet from sea level. The moist conditions and the extra rain brought by the elevation causes the redwoods in this grove to look less red than trees of that sort found elsewhere on the North Coast.
Orick is a small community located in Humboldt County, California. It is situated near the coast and serves as a gateway to the Redwood National and State Parks. Orick is located in the northern part of California, within Humboldt County. It is situated along the Redwood Highway (Highway 101) and is near the Pacific Ocean. The population was 328 at the 2020 census.
