Bodfish is a census-designated place in the southern Kern River Valley of the Southern Sierra Nevada, in Kern County, California. Bodfish is located 32 miles (51 km) east-northeast of Bakersfield, at an elevation of 2,687 feet (819 m). The population was 1,956 at the 2010 census, up from 1,823 at the 2000 census.
Silver City Ghost Town is now operated as a museum to the Kern Valley's long and colorful history. The Apalatea/Burlando House which is believed to be the oldest standing structure in the Valley houses a saloon and country store. Thousands of artifacts are on display throughout the property.
