Wrights Hill Fortress is a historic World War II coastal defense installation located in Wellington, New Zealand. Constructed between 1942 and 1944, the fortress was part of New Zealand's coastal defense network, built to protect the country from potential naval attacks, particularly from Japan.
Stirling Point marks the southern end of State Highway 1, which runs the length of New Zealand. The point is memorable for the large signpost displaying distances to major cities in the world - a photograph of this signpost is a must for your travel journey. Stirling Point has an anchor chain sculpture which replicates the sculpture on Stewart Island.
