It's part of the larger Mission Bay Park which is the largest aquatic park of its kind in the country. It consists of over 4,235 acres in roughly equal parts land and water.

Up to two inflatables are allowed. There is a boat launch and ski area on the south side, but no swimming is allowed. There is also a children's playground adjacent to the picnic shelter.
