Cahal Pech Archaeological Reserve is a medium-sized Maya site located above the modern town of San Ignacio and is situated approximately 2km south of where the Mopan and Macal rivers meet to form the Belize River.
The site core, which includes an acropolis, is located on a steep hill and covers approximate one hectare and is made up of seven plazas. In these plazas the visitor will encounter 34 structures including temples, administrative spaces, residential complexes, a sweathbath, and a ballcourt.
