The Luermen Tianhou Temple in Tainan City, Taiwan, is a significant cultural and religious site dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese sea goddess revered as a protector of fishermen and sailors. It is one of the oldest and most venerated Mazu temples in Taiwan, with deep historical and spiritual roots.
The temple traces its origins back to the early 17th century during the Ming Dynasty. It is said that Mazu guided Ming loyalist Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong) to Taiwan in 1661 to drive out the Dutch and establish Chinese rule. The temple stands near the historic Luermen Landing Site, where Koxinga first set foot in Taiwan.

The temple features intricate carvings, colorful murals, and traditional Chinese architectural designs. Its richly decorated roof, adorned with dragons and phoenixes, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The main hall houses a majestic statue of Mazu, surrounded by smaller deities and offerings.

Luermen Tianhou Temple is a major pilgrimage site for Mazu devotees, especially during her birthday celebrations on the 23rd day of the third lunar month. Visitors come to seek blessings, pray for safety, and offer thanks for protection.
