Bao Vinh is much more than a single thoroughfare; it is a tapestry of winding alleys, each carrying the legacy of its past. These paths serve as living maps of local history, named after the traditional trades that once flourished there.
From the rhythmic clanging in Blacksmith’s Alley to the savory aromas of Fish Sauce Alley, along with others dedicated to sugar, chili, salt, and the local market.

Tucked away within these narrow passages, you'll find charming garden houses along with ancestral worship houses featuring classical architecture where flowers and fruit trees offer a lush, quiet escape from the bustle of the street.

Deep within the market alley sits a small, hallowed shrine shrouded in chilling legends. Its reputation is so formidable that few dare to venture past it once night falls.

Interestingly, in the canal alley, there's a dam built to prevent saltwater intrusion. During the flood season, it transforms into a refuge for locals – an ideal spot to plunge into the swirling current or cast nets at the end of the canal.

Beyond these narrow alleys, connected by a winding village road, lie vast expanses of fields and rolling hills. In the wake of the harvest, these lands transform into a playground where children gather to kick footballs and toss clods of earth, shaking off the weight of a long school day. Higher up, the hills are dotted with graves—silent monuments that double as a sanctuary for birds when the floodwaters rise.

The ferry terminal is a must-see when visiting Bao Vinh. Across the river lies a completely different world, with vibrant flower gardens and endless stretches of rice paddies. Along the riverbank is a dreamy golden sandy beach, a paradise for enjoying the hot summer afternoons in Hue. There is also a parish church here that attracts many parishioners from nearby villages on weekends.

Back to Bao Vinh, a familiar stop for the journeys of many neighboring villages from the hamlet to the town, the rhythm of life here remains unchanged: every early morning, as the first rays of sunlight appear, you see the graceful figures in white and light blue ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) strolling leisurely along the streets; and those same faces quietly return home as the sun sets after a long day of diligent studying.

Time seems to stand still in this ancient town, but the hearts of the people do not. The children of Bao Vinh continue to grow up, then one by one leave their homes to seek more prosperous and bustling horizons, leaving behind the tranquil image of the old town.
