It is part of the larger Đường Lâm Ancient Village, which is known as "the land of the two kings" because it was also the hometown of another Vietnamese hero, Phùng Hưng. Ngô Quyền was born in Đường Lâm and led a successful resistance war against the Southern Han army in 938 AD, famously employing a tactic of planting sharpened wooden stakes in the Bạch Đằng River to defeat the invading navy. The site serves as a place to honor Ngô Quyền and his contributions to Vietnamese independence. The temple and mausoleum are built in a traditional Vietnamese architectural style. The temple has a relatively modest scale, with an entrance gate, side buildings, and a main worship hall. The complex is set against a backdrop of peaceful countryside, with a large field and a river in front of it. The complex is a popular destination for those interested in Vietnamese history and culture.
