The Huron Harbor Lighthouse, located in Huron, Ohio, was built in 1936 and stands 72 feet (21 meters) tall. It marks the entrance to Huron Harbor and was constructed of steel, replacing earlier wooden structures that had been destroyed by storms. The lighthouse was automated in 1972 and features a solar-powered beacon visible from a distance of 12 miles (34 km), flashing red every six seconds.
Visitors can walk along the mile-long pier leading to the lighthouse, a popular spot for fishing. The lighthouse is managed by the United States Coast Guard and remains operational to this day.
