Đường Lâm is about 50 km west of Hanoi in Sơn Tây Town. It is considered the first ancient village in Vietnam to be recognized as a national heritage site in 2005. The village is over 1,000 years old and is known as the "Land of Two Kings" because it was the birthplace of Ngô Quyền and Phùng Hưng, two famous Vietnamese kings who led resistance movements against Chinese rule. The village has several well-preserved communal houses, temples, and pagodas, including: - Mong Phu Communal House – The spiritual and cultural center of the village. - Ngô Quyền Temple and Tomb – Honoring the national hero who defeated the Southern Han dynasty in the Battle of Bạch Đằng River (938 AD). - Phùng Hưng Temple – Dedicated to another hero who led a rebellion against Chinese rule in the 8th century. |

Sơn Tây lies 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of the capital Hanoi. It had a city status in Hà Tây province.
