Little Saigon SD El Cajon Boulevard, City Heights, San Diego, CA Last Updated: 04/19/2025 |
| Little Saigon in San Diego is San Diego's newest neighborhood, and the city's most vibrant arts & culture district. In City Heights, a six-block stretch of El Cajon Boulevard contains everything from markets and restaurants to doctor’s offices and tax-preparation firms - most of their signs in Vietnamese. | |
| This corridor contains the highest concentration of Vietnamese-American businesses in San Diego County, said Frank Vuong, director of the Little Saigon San Diego Foundation. Of the 120 storefronts there, about 70 percent are owned by Vietnamese-Americans. On June 4, the City Council declared the area an official Little Saigon district, recognition that Vuong said will be a much-needed catalyst to improve the economic and social standing of Vietnamese businesses and residents countywide. The district is the fifth Little Saigon in the United States to gain formal recognition by a government body. About a dozen others have sprung up unofficially in cities from Orlando to Seattle.
