Huế (formerly Thừa Thiên Huế province) is a southernmost coastal city in the North Central Coast region, the Central of Vietnam, approximately in the center of the country. It is known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty. Hue was the imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty. Hue's 2019 population was at 1,282,885.
On January 1, 2025, Thừa Thiên Huế province was upgraded to become Vietnam's sixth centrally-governed municipality, named Huế. The former provincial city was dissolved to establish two new urban districts:

- Phú Xuân district
- Thuận Hóa district.

Huế borders Quảng Trị to the north, Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng to the south, Salavan of Laos to the west and the South China Sea to the east. As one of the country's six direct-controlled municipalities, it falls under the administration of the central government.

Hue city is known for its rich history and culture. The city has many important historical sites, including the Imperial City of Hue, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. The Imperial City was the political and cultural center of the Nguyen Dynasty, and it contains numerous palaces, temples, and other structures of historical significance.

Hue city is also famous for its traditional music, which includes the royal court music of the Nguyen Dynasty, as well as folk songs and dances. The province is home to many skilled artisans who specialize in traditional crafts such as lacquerware, ceramics, and silk weaving.

In addition to its cultural attractions, Hue city has a diverse landscape that includes mountains, beaches, and rivers. The province is home to Bach Ma National Park, which is known for its biodiversity and scenic beauty, as well as several beaches along the coast of the East Sea.

Hue city is a fascinating destination for travelers who are interested in history, culture, and natural beauty.
