Hyde Park is a neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, located on and near the shores of Lake Michigan, 7 miles (11 km) south of the Loop. It is one of the city's 77 community areas. This culturally rich neighborhood is surrounded by two of the city's most important educational institutions—the University of Chicago to the west and the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry to the east.
