| Shiga Prefecture is located on the east side of Kyoto Prefecture, and it is 10 minutes by train from Kyoto Station to Otsu, the capital of Shiga. Shiga developed as a supplier and a relay point for supplies and human resources to Nara, Kyoto and Osaka. The Lake Biwa, occupies one sixth of the prefecture area. Shiga Prefecture had a population of 1,412,916 in 2015. | |
