Lubbock County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. The 2020 census placed the population at 310,639. Its county seat and largest city is Lubbock. It is situated at the elevations ranging from 2,900 to 3,400 feet. Lubbock County is one of the oldest inhabited places in the state. In the northern part of the city of Lubbock is the archeological site known as the Lubbock Lake Site.
Lubbock Lake National Historic Landmark, is an important archeological site and natural history preserve in the city of Lubbock, Texas. There is evidence of ancient people and extinct animals at Lubbock Lake Landmark. It has evidence of nearly 12,000 years of use by ancient cultures on the Llano Estacado.
