| The North Caves Maastricht Underground lie deep within the St Pietersberg hills and hold a unique piece of Maastricht's history. They are a collection of limestone quarries in Maastricht, Netherlands, dating back to the 13th century. Originally, the North Caves were excavated for chalk. In total, a network of 20,000 tunnels was carved into the rock, of which 8,000 remain intact. | |
