Santa Fe National Forest is a protected national forest in northern New Mexico, in the Southwestern United States. Established in 1915, the forest covers an area of 1,558,452 acres (6,306.83 km²). Elevations range from 1,600 feet (5,300 m) to 4,000 feet (13,103 feet) at Truchas Peak, located within the Pecos Wilderness Area.
Located in White Rock, the White Rock Overlook offers spectacular 270-degree views of the Rio Grande as it flows alongside the Jemez Mountains. From this vantage point, you can admire panoramic views of the river, distant mountains, and rugged canyons. It's an ideal spot for family outings or peaceful afternoons.
Los Alamos County is a county in the state of New Mexico. It is also home to one of the National Nuclear Security Agency's laboratories—the Los Alamos National Laboratory. According to the 2020 census, the population was 19,419. The county has two census-designated locations: Los Alamos and White Rock. Los Alamos is the county's administrative center and its largest community.
