The Baker House was built by Senator David H. Baker around 1890 in the Orange Home community. The house comprises a two-story main house with porches on both floors and a separate two-story kitchen. Much of the main house retains its original architecture, from the beautiful hardwood floors to the stained-glass windows on the second-floor landing; it is a beautiful landmark in Sumter County.
Wildwood, located 50 miles northwest of Orlando and 75 miles north of Tampa in northern Sumter County, is known as the “Crossroads of Florida.” Once a rural community, Wildwood is now home to the southernmost part of The Villages, America’s fastest-growing urban area. Its population was 15,730 in 2020.
