Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge is a large wildlife refuge located in the Gulf Coast region of Florida, near the town of St. Marks, in Wakulla County, approximately 25 miles south of Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. It encompasses more than 83,000 acres (336 km²).
San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park is located in St. Marks, Florida, and it holds significant historical and cultural importance. The park is home to the historic San Marcos de Apalache, which has served various roles throughout its history. It was initially a Spanish fort, later a British trading post, and eventually a Confederate military post during the Civil War.
