The Ascension Cathedral, also known as the Zenkov Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was built between 1904 and 1907 by the architect Andrei Zenkov, and is one of the few buildings in Almaty that survived the 1911 earthquake.

In 1997, the government relocated the capital to Akmola (now called Astana).
On the territory of the park are located the famous Ascension Cathedral, the monument to Panfilov Heroes, the Eternal Flame, the Museum of Kazakh folk musical instruments, the Artichoke Theater and several restaurants. During the day in the park, you can ride ponies, feed pigeons and just have a nice walk along coniferous alleys and mysterious shady paths.
