Big Bone Lick State Park features a museum, visitor center, hiking, fishing lake, RV & tent campground, and a bison herd. Big Bone Lick is an Ice Age park, focusing primarily on prehistoric events and the megafauna of 12,000 years ago.
Boone County is a county located on the Ohio River in the northernmost part of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 135,968. Its county seat is Burlington. Its location along the Ohio River was key to its early development, as the river was the major transportation route.
Encompassing 121 acres, the Boone County Arboretum is also known as Central Park, and was the nation’s first arboretum within an active recreation park setting. The specialized arrangements of plant families and 12 athletic fields are connected by a 2+ mile winding multi-use trail.
