Medina County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 50,748. Its county seat is Hondo.[2] The county is named for the Medina River. The extreme northern part of the county lies within the Edwards Plateau, which elevates into the Texas Hill Country.
Castroville Regional Park is the perfect place for picnics, birding, swimming or fishing, playing tennis soccer or basketball, biking, rambling along the Medina River, jogging or hiking on the park's over a dozen trails, visiting the park's unique butterfly garden, or simply sitting back and watching people, the day go by and the sun setting.
Hondo is a city in and the county seat of Medina County, Texas. According to the 2020 Census, the population was 8,289. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Hondo was first settled in 1881 and incorporated in 1942.
