Tiverton is a town in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 16,359 at the 2020 census. Tiverton is located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay, across the Sakonnet River from Aquidneck Island.
The Fort Barton Site is the site of an historic American Revolutionary War fort, now located in a public park at Lawton and Highland Avenues in Tiverton, Rhode Island. All that remains of the fort are its earthworks, a roughly oblong structure about 150 feet (46 m) long and 100 feet (30 m) deep.
Sapowet Marsh in Tiverton, Rhode Island is a 138-acre estuarine, intertidal salt marsh area with substantial mudflats, tidal creeks, sub-tidal areas, and salt ponds. It is a wildlife preserve located on the Sakonnet River, offering serene natural habitat and dramatic views across the river toward Portsmouth and Newport.
