Stretched along the Catawba River on the South Carolina fall line, Landsford Canal State Park,in Chester County, is home to the well-preserved remains of the canal system that made the river commercially navigable from 1820 to 1835.

Situated in the rolling hills of South Carolina’s eastern Piedmont, Chester is bounded on the east by the Catawba River and on the west by the Broad River.
