Brevard County is located on the Atlantic coast of eastern Central Florida and is known for its significant role in the aerospace industry, being home to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Established in 1855, it was named after Theodore W. Brevard, an early settler and state comptroller. As of the 2020 census, the population was approximately 606,612, making it the 10th most populous county in Florida.
Throughout its history, Brevard County has experienced numerous boundary changes, with its current configuration established in 1905. The county seat is located in Titusville, while administrative functions are also conducted from Viera, which serves as a de facto center due to its geographic location.
