Bahrain Fort, also known as Qal'at al-Bahrain, is one of Bahrain's most important historical landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located on the northern coast of Bahrain, near the village of Karbabad and about 6 kilometers from the capital, Manama. The fort has a rich history that spans several millennia and reflects Bahrain’s strategic significance in the ancient world.
Bahrain Fort has been continuously inhabited since around 2300 BCE, making it an important archaeological site. It was once the capital of the Dilmun Civilization, a major trading empire in the ancient world that connected Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) with the Indus Valley (modern-day Pakistan and India). Throughout its long history, the site has served various civilizations, including the Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and later the Islamic and Portuguese empires.

With its long and layered history, the fort provides a deep insight into the evolution of Bahrain over thousands of years, making it one of the most significant cultural and historical sites in the region.
