| The Zoroaster Cube is a large rectangular structure built on a three-tiered base. It is 13 meters tall and constructed from local limestone in the Marvdasht district of Fars province, Iran. A staircase of approximately thirty steps leads to the structure's only entrance, located at the foot of a mountain. The sides of the "cube" feature niches in the walls, the purpose of which remains unknown. The structure is dated to the Achaemenid Empire (553-330 BC). It may have been built when Emperor Darius I moved from the Achaemenid Empire's first capital, Pasargadae, where a nearly identical structure existed. | |
