| The Tomb of Xerxes I, also known as the Tomb of Darius the Great, is an ancient burial site located in Naqsh-e Rostam, Fars Province, Iran. It is believed to be the tomb of Xerxes I (Xerxes the Great), the fourth king of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, who reigned from 486 to 465 BC. | |
| The tomb is carved into a high cliff, with a large rectangular facade topped by a semicircular dome and large stone balustrades. The facade is decorated with reliefs depicting Persian kings. Unlike the more well-known tombs of Darius I and Xerxes I at Naqsh-e Rostam, which are chambers carved into the rock, the tomb believed to be that of Xerxes is thought to be a semi-underground chamber with a unique architectural style. | |
