The archipelago has a population of approximately 2,272,734 inhabitants in 2026, making it the most populous overseas special territory of the European Union.
These islands are renowned as Europe's sunniest haven, boasting mild temperatures and numerous outstanding natural attractions. In fact, five of their seven islands have been declared Biosphere Reserves, and the archipelago has four national parks.
