| In 1301, Tran Nhan Tong visited Champa and was warmly welcomed by King Che Man (Jaya Simhavarman III). The king promised to marry his daughter to him. After many negotiations (which some officials opposed), the wedding took place in 1306. Huyen Tran was taken to Champa and became the third concubine, with the title Parameshvari (or Paramecvari). In return, Champa ceded the provinces of Chau O and Chau Ly (approximately the present-day provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and part of Da Nang) as a dowry. This peaceful territorial expansion was a major step forward for the southern border of Dai Viet. | |
