Originally built in 1675, the Leffingwell House Museum is one of the finest restored examples of New England colonial architecture, showcasing the architectural evolution prevalent in Connecticut. Beginning as a two-room house, it evolved into an 18th-century colonial inn and tavern.
By the time the American Revolution broke out, it was the opulent home of Christopher Leffingwell, a local citizen and patriot of Norwich. The house houses a fascinating collection of artifacts, showcasing its architectural evolution. Guides use the exhibits, dating from Norwich's founding in 1659 to the Civil War, to tell the story of Norwich's establishment and the house's rich connection to our Revolutionary heritage.
