Pinara was a major city of ancient Lycia located at the foot of Mount Cragus (now Mount Babadağ), and not far from the western bank of the Xanthos River, which shared the same name as the ancient city of Xanthos (now the Eşen River).
Most of the stone tombs here are of the residential type, and one of them is particularly significant because of the reliefs on the eaves and front walls. These reliefs depict a city surrounded by walls. It is believed that the city depicted in the tomb's relief is Pınara, and that the tomb may belong to a prince of Pınara.
